_MG_00211.    For those who may not know, will you tell us a bit about yourself?

I began writing just after the invention of the wheel—seriously in about 1992 and started on a long journey to publication.  One Christmas, I stripped the tree of its decorations (a silk tree) and left it up all year, decorating it instead with rejection letters.

Now, I live in Texas, don’t have horses and have a piano I can’t play (more on this in another question).  I’m very into sports cars and love my black-on-black convertible.

2.  Will you tell us about your newest release and provide an excerpt?

Gemini Rising is a book about forbidden love.  The tag line is:  Forbidden Love…one man, one woman—one heart, one soul—only together can they be complete.

3.  If your book was turned into a movie, who would you want to play your protagonists?  Johnny Depp could play Alain (Johnny can play anyone!! Did you see him in The Libertine?)GeminiRising3 and maybe Cameron Diaz could be Alina.

4.  What are three quirky facts about you that no one would know or assume otherwise?

In 2008, I jumped into Z3PO (my roadster) and drove 1600 miles in a caravan of Z3’s and Z4’s to Greenville, South Carolina for the last Homecoming (an event welcoming the sports cars manufactured in Greenville back to the plant with many parties I might add).  My aunt flew from Greenville to drive back with me.

I own a baby grand piano I can’t play (my mom gave me piano lessons but I wanted a horse so I learned to play by the finger numbers.  The piano was sold, and I got my first horse.)  Now I wish I could play!  But at least it has a PianoDisc player.

I love licorice and Pellegrino.  I drink bottles of the stuff while I’m writing.  I also eat licorice while I write.  Not at the same time as the Pellegrino.

My male friend and I often drink Mimosas early on a Sunday morning for breakfast (w/o the brunch!)

5.  What wisdom about writing do you wish you could share with fledgling writers?  Don’t try to write for the market. Write each book for yourself—as if it were the book of your heart.  Love your characters.  Accept advice from professionals but don’t lose your voice.

6.  What do you have in store for readers next?  In July, Double Dragon Publishing is releasing Sinners’ Opera starring Morgan D’Arcy, concert pianist, English lord…and vampire.

7.  Where can people find you?

Gemini Rising is available in print and ebook from Amazon or from Double Dragon Publishing.

Alain tucked the in-flight magazine into the seat pocket and gazed out the scratched window of the 747.  Distance vanished on clouds fleeing beneath the silver wings, carrying him from a dark-eyed beauty to a fair-haired princess locked in an island castle.  From one life in the sun to a score of problems.

Someone was going to get hurt.

Already he hurt—a low throbbing like a toothache.  If he returned to Portugal, Alina would be devastated.  His father would disown him.  If he picked up his discarded heritage, a part of him would die and Maritza would grieve.  For a time.  He wasn’t vain enough to think the black-haired beauty would die without him.

The choice lay in his hands.

Damn life got complicated when he tried to declare independence from The Keep.  He shifted his long legs cramped beneath the airline seat.  He preferred not to think, but fragments of memory plagued the corners of his eyes.

A vivid picture of Alina supplanted images of recent days drenched white-hot by a Portuguese sun.  His twin’s presence was more corporeal than the woman sitting to his left.  Welcome or not, Alina was there inside him, the mere thought of her a compulsion.  He sensed her anticipation mounting as the miles melted.  Excitement tingled over him.  In self defense, he grasped at a memory of riding the splendid Lusitano stallions.  As he pictured Maritza framed in an arbor of roses, his heart dived.
